I am told I have entered an "Unrecognised character"

You must complete your form in English, using only the letters a-z A-Z (no accented letters), 0-9 and the following punctuation: ! " £ $ % ^ * () _ , + = ~ # \ @ ' ’ : ; ? \ /. Please review your submission. Often copying and pasting a paragraph from MS Word, or other such text editors, will result in unrecognised characters being carried through to your submission.

How to identify and correct unrecognised characters

This issue will often happen if you copy and paste text into the application form from another document.

Common characters copied from other documents that may not be recognised are hyphens (-), speech marks (") and apostrophes (').

nce you have located the unrecognised characters, remove them and then re-enter by typing straight into the application form.

If you still cannot identify the unrecognised characters, we advise that you remove the text that you copied into the application form and manually type it into the form.
